I'm home for the holidays this year, first white christmas in sixteen years. The snow here falls, melts partly into slush, freezes again, and then the cycle repeats with more snow. It's magical at night when the fresh snow is falling, but then when the sun comes up, you see nothing but wet, slushy snow falling off of the tree branches it dusted with sonorous "plops." It's like perpetual spring in colder climates, that horrible time when the snow is melting and everything is wet and mucky. Makes outside seem very uninviting, and encourages you to curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book.
